Sojourns

We often chase the tale of time And never wonder beyond our lines We seldom change our state of mind In hopes of finding a life divine Life slips away Lost to the habits of the mind While there's so much more to which we're blind There's nothing more the soul can find No greater wonder; no stronger light It's within reach, it's unconfined We must first seek it And choose adventure for our own lives Life rushes past And we forget each day could be our last So we must open up our eyes With the window open we may find our way back to the world With our eyes aglow we may once again discover The adventure within ourselves

Gaia 03:29
The acrid rain falls on tomorrow Hearts mourn the shame of yesterday Our clear neglect still hard to swallow As our foundations start to shake The heatwaves reign change on tomorrow And shape the clays of yesterday While landscape, sky, and ocean follow The heart and soul of our very being Removed from our consequences Our sense will slant and backslide How can we speak in a common tongue? At era's end time will tell Only our nature can teach us to nurture Omniscient, unseen hands do borrow To feed our constant thirst for wealth Uncertain times are sure to follow When we place our money before our health The answers to our deep questions Beneath our egos subside How can we reach for our common goals? Wisdom of the ages procure Only at era's end our time will surely tell Only our nature can teach us to nurture

Solstice 03:55
Carried in on the shoulders of springtime The peak of the season is at our feet And the daylight begins to wane As the sun etches through to the western shore It comes on slow We sang as the shadows spun From the bases of the trees And gave light to the leaves Mountains are calling Fleeting life is rushing in Sounds of life ring clear through the evening haze And the sun is low We sang as the stars shone down In the wake of the fading light And gave birth to the night We breathed in the winds of change And drank from the river of life We wandered so far that we found ourselves In the places we were all along And the sun went down And we found all the things we had lost in the light We sang as the sun came up And the darkness began to fade To make room for the day
5.
Whispers 04:34
The autumn air seeps through my window And whispers solemn melodies before sinking to the floor Deciduous giants gleam in red, and green, and gold And stand in static camaraderie To placid in their repose The star-strewn sky looks down with patience And echoes distant epochs of unseen history A time and place so far removed from our existence Incomprehensibly secluded Beyond the scope of any human being The frost is forming on my window And scripting temporal messages of natural accord Each line an unvoiced truth of reconciliation Eroded from our consciousness and memory But still abundant to those who seek
6.
No Trace 03:09
It's not what you expected when you waited so long Spent all your life searching, hoping it would come Then the moment's gone There's nowhere you can run to, there never was a golden age But time conflates and shallows. when you count the days Until it leaves no trace There's something so sacred about right now And there's a breath to be had in the darkest of hours But when there's no time to sit and take it in You're living in the past

Patience 03:52
Oceans whirl without a name Possession is a futile game Existence lives on independent of our labels We must shift our search from the absolute Because the only grand, insoluble truth Is presence and impermanence Nations at each others' throats We can't decide on what disturbs us most And in the midst we lose our sense of what's important We must shift our search from the absolute Because the only grand, insoluble truth Is presence and impermanence We're here to carry each other To dilute the false pretences of our sisters and our brothers And add our shading to the greater sense of truth That's all we're really here to do We can't live our lives in the absolute We're all subject to existential truths Of presence and impermanence
10.
Sempervirens 04:14
We're the heirlooms of our fore-family Proprietors of the chain Holder of the keys and bearer to the name Carriers of the flame Etched in history, sprung forth in time Suspended and sequestered This path carved out by the tools of our ancestors Shepherding the line At the dawn of our coronation Time stood still And so grew our fascination We hold at will Allow ourselves to feel the ground upon which our ancestors walked To comprehend the change And feel the deep connection that anchors us in our time and place And solidifies our trail In days to come our stories unfold Unravelling from within And the way we proceed through challenges unknown Is written beneath our skin We're the heirlooms of our fore-family Carriers of the flame Scions of the seeds of primordial relay Children of the way
11.
Halcyon 05:55
Lost among the waves Drawn in by Luna's persuasion Tangles in the throes Of life's great celestial glow All that you can do Is see the whole cosmos anew And all that you can know Is time's irreversible flow From pinpricks in the sky Teem vast unnamed oceans of life Islands lost to time Last remnants of primeval tides Wandering through the mists Of pre-history's archaic bliss Swallowed in the deep To find it in each little piece In the ceaseless face of an eternity's pace We're all alone And in this great expanse we have our chance To be part of the great unknown The great resounding echo

about

Sojourns is a departure; a brief glimpse into the formative moments of guiding turbulence and quiescence of the past few years. Each piece evolved from the literature and life lessons necessary to integrate an ever-evolving worldview and constantly shifting foundations.

Through the album’s cascading arc it flirts with genres like Americana, Punk, Folk, and Electronica, spiralling and interweaving common threads throughout.

So foundational to the understanding of self is the reincarnation, as it consumes and leaves one open to new experience. So reads the arc of Sojourns.
